-Losing candidate in the 2011 Petauke Central Parliamentary election, Leonard Banda ,says justice has prevailed with the nullification of Dora Siliya’s election as Member of Parliament for Petauke.

Mr Banda, who is also PF Provincial Secretary, told ZANIS in an interview that he is happy with the nullification of Ms Siliya’s election, saying although the petition case dragged on for a long time, it was worth the waiting.

“It has been a long journey but now I am happy that justice has finally prevailed and the people of Petauke Central will go to another election which I hope will be free from electoral malpractice,” he said.

He stated that it is an indication that the Judiciary was dependable as it exhibited impartiality in the ruling.

Mr Banda commended the PF and its leadership for its support during the petition process which he said has taken years to yield the desired results.

And Mr Banda said he will re-apply for adoption to re-contest the Petauke Central seat.

“I hope that I will be adopted to contest on the PF ticket so that I represent the people of Petauke in Parliament,” he said.

The Supreme Court yesterday nullified the election of Dora Siliya as Member of Parliament for Petauke Central Constituency on grounds of electoral malpractice prior to the 2011 general elections.

Ms Siliya also served at several ministerial positions, the last one being Minister of Education in the Rupiah Banda’s MMD administration.
