Succession/land disputes worry DC

Monze district commissioner Lucia Mwinde is concerned about the unresolved succession and land boundary disputes involving chiefs in the district.

Ms Mwinde says the raging disputes have the potential to negatively affect the development of the district if not quickly attended to.

She was speaking when southern province minister Daniel Munkombwe called on her at  her office in Monze today.

Ms Mwinde says there is currently a raging land boundary dispute between chiefs Hamusonde of Monze and Mwanachingwala of Mazabuka over Nyimba Island on the Kafue flats

The DC said both chiefs are claiming jurisdiction over the disputed land.

She said there is need for relevant authorities to speedily move in and help resolve the disputes.

And Southern province minister Daniel munkombwe has directed district commissioners in the province to prepare and submit monthly progress reports on developmental activities in their respective districts.

Speaking in Monze when he called on Monze district commissioner Lucia Mwinde, Mr Munkombwe said the Patriotic Front (PF) Government is in a hurry to deliver development to the people.

He said the progress reports will enable government assess the impact of the various developmental programmes on the living conditions of the people.

He expressed happiness at the progress report submitted by Ms Mwinde saying all district commissioners in the province should emulate her.

Mr Munkombwe has also told district commissioners not to use the language that the opposition is using against government.

He said DC’s must instead properly explain to the people the PF government’s development agenda.
