-PS happy with planning authority

—–Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Brig. General Emeldah Chola has commended the provincial planning uthority for taking an active role in the establishment of newly created districts in the region.

The permanent Secretary said this in Lusaka today during the Geographical Information System (GIS) training certificate awarding ceremony.

Brig. Gen Chola said the training marks the beginning of an intensive programme to build capacity for four new districts in the utilization of  the information system.

She said the training is also aimed at enhancing the flow of information between the province and the districts.

Brig. Gen. Chola said this will subsequently enhance the implementation of various  programmes in the management of human settlements.

She GIS facilitates the collection, analysis and utilization of both physical and socio-economic information for informed decision making.

Brig. Gen. Chola said she is optimistic that the knowledge and skills obtained will be critical in ensuring that the president’s directive of supporting the new districts is looked into.

She further reiterated the need for all participants to facilitate continuity in GIS development with regard to planning and management.

Brig. Gen. Chola commended the district councils for allowing officers to take part in the important training.
