Construction of Nakonde hospital stalls

Nakonde, May 26, 2013,ZANIS – Construction of the multi million
kwacha Nakonde district community hospital has stalled.

This came to light yesterday when Muchinga Province Minister
Gerry Chanda visited the construction site on his continued tour of
the district to check on developmental projects.

The contractor Zamiliny Investment Limited is reported to have
abandoned the project due to alleged lack of funding from the
government.

Colonel Chanda has since appealed to the Ministry of Finance to quickly
release the funds to enable the contractor continue with the works.

Col. Chanda said once the project is completed it would provide
health services to the residents and also add value to the provision of quality health services.

And Col. Chanda is however happy with the quality of works so far done under phase one
which he described as impressive.

Acting district works supervisor Edward Kanyatila told ZANIS that the
contractor complained about erratic funding from the government forcing him to leave the site due to non availability of building materials.

Mr Kanyatila said phase two of the project was expected to be completed in December 2012 and includes among

others the construction of a laboratory, a male ward, an incinerator and the out-patients department.

Others are the administration block, water tank and four medium staff houses.
