——Police in Kasama have launched a manhunt for people  who have exhumed and stolen a confine and the corpse from Chiba cemetery in Senior Chief Mwamba’s area.

Northern Province Police Chief Mary Chikwanda has confirmed the incident to Zanis today.

Ms Chikwanda has since identified the deceased whose body was exhumed and stolen as Memory Mwamba, 20, who was buried on February 18, 2013.

She explained that the incident of stealing the coffin together with the corpse was unique because even the body is not found anywhere near the grave.

Ms Chikwanda said unknown people in Kasama last week exhumed and stole  a decomposed corpse from a cemetery in strange circumstances.

However, police says it would pursue the matter to get to the bottom of the bizarre situation that has shocked residents.

And the father of the deceased woman, Aaron Mpange, has appealed to members of the public who may find the corpse of his daughter to report to the police.

Mr Mpange narrated that people and family members tipped him last week that his daughter‘s grave was tampered with.

He said the matter was reported to the police   and a joint investigation team has established that the body and the coffin are missing from grave.
