The Copperbelt University Lecturers have vowed not to return to work as long as the current University management led by Vice Chancellor Nason Ngoma is not removed.

Copper University Lecturers Union Secretary General Dr Kawunga Nyirenda says the lecturers are not moved by government’s threat to dismiss them if they do not resume work.

Dr.Nyirenda says the threat to dismiss them from Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili is an empty one.

He says if government is serious about resolving the impasse at the university, it should fire the university management, but do so in a transparently and proper manner.

He adds that the lecturers at the university are intellectuals who know what they are doing and why they are doing it.

Dr Nyirenda says the current CBU management has failed to manage the university and is not needed.

Dr Nyirenda further states that the lecturers are concerned about the students at the university and understand the importance of education which is why they want the best for the university by asking the current management to leave office.
