Local authority warned against corruption

Lukulu, December 30, 2014, ZANIS — Lukulu district Council chairman Liywa Kwalombota has called on the local authority to avoid corrupt practices especially in land allocation in 2015.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Kwalombota said that there is need to start the new year on a corrupt- free service delivery note to the public.

Mr. Kwalombota however noted that team work among councillors, council workers, the district administration and stakeholders has contributed to the success of the council activities in the year 2014.

Speaking when he officially opened the fourth quarter full ordinary council meeting , Mr. Kwalombota also called for continued support among all stakeholders in order to foster developmental projects with consented efforts.

Mr. Kwalombota also said there is need to cooperate and coordinate a leading supportive role in influencing the community to pay other levies due to the council such as issuance of business permits as it was the main source of income in the absence  fish levies .

And the council chairman has requested all the political parties in the district to conduct violence free campaigns as the country goes for a presidential by-election on January 20 , 2015.

Meanwhile, Lukulu District Commissioner Precious Muyenga has appealed to councillors to help the administration supervise developmental projects in their respective wards and  close monitoring of government programs in the district.
