A 24-YEAR-OLD man has told to Kitwe Magistrate’s Court how a woman and her three children allegedly assaulted him.
Before magistrate Kampinda Chipamu last Thursday were Chileya Chapi, Albetina Chisenga, Fred Chompwe and Sharon Phiri, who pleaded not guilty to assault.
It is alleged that Chapi, Chisenga, Chompwe and Phiri, on November 5 this year in Kitwe, assaulted Joseph Mumba and occasioned him actual bodily harm.
Mumba recalled that on the fateful day, he was drinking beer at Mwela Bar in Kwacha East in Kitwe with his friend when Chapi walked in and grabbed his glass of beer.
“When I asked him to stop drinking my beer, he got upset and punched me on my lips and ran away. I followed him to his house and I told his mother but his mother and three siblings started beating me and I sustained injuries on my lip, eye and leg,” Mr Mumba said.
He testified that the accused threw him into a ditch and ran away.
The court heard that Mr Mumba reported the matter to the police and the accused were arrested.
Ms Chipamu adjourned the case to November 28 for continued trial.
