Justice Minister Edgar Lungu says he has not resigned his position as Patriotic Front Secretary General.

Mr Lungu says he still remains Patriotic Front Secretary General until such a time that a substantive candidate has been named to contest the 20th January,2015 presidential by-election.

In a statement made available to QFM News, Mr Lungu has clarified that he has merely taken leave of absence or temporarily stepped aside until the PF picks its presidential candidate.

He says in his absence, the PF Deputy Secretary General Bridget Attanga will act as party Secretary General.

 

Mr Lungu who is also Defence Minister is among ten candidates who have filed their nominations to be considered for the PF presidency.

These include Agriculture Minister Wilbur Simuusa,Former First Lady Dr Christine Kaseba Sata,Kasama Central MP Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba,Kabwata MP Given Lubinda,Commerce Minister Bob Sichinga,former Zambian Ambassador to Nigeria Seleman Phangula Banda ,Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata,Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili and Commerce deputy Minister and Matero MP Miles Sampa.
