—Luwingu District Council Secretary, Raphael Zulu, has called on the district planning sub-committee to be objective as they plan for activities for 2015 in line with the recently pronounced national budget.

Mr Zulu said planning helps to continuously manage growth and change by setting direction and reflecting community aspirations such as providing good roads, health infrastructure and many other projects.

“These are the people’s aspirations. People elsewhere demand good roads, health posts, general hospitals and many others,” he said.

He said sustainable planning requires reviewing the plan every after one year in order to ensure that it continues to respond to growth and changes at a local, regional and the national level.

Mr Zulu further said planning, if done well, acts as a catalyst for accelerating new jobs because it provides for new developmental programmes.

And speaking earlier District Planning Officer, David Mbulo, said Irish Aid, through Self-Help Africa, is supporting various developmental projects in Luwingu and Mbala districts in Northern province.

Mr Mbulo advised the planners in various government departments to take an opportunity by ensuring that they plan activities that would benefit the communities in the district.

He advised them to plan and set targets for the benefit for the communities in various places.
