Three escape death in an overturn Mungwi District

Mungwi,  October 4, 2014…ZANIS… Three people including the driver escaped death  when the tipper truck they were traveling in overturned around 16:30hrs today at Chitila round-about 8 kilometers away from Mungwi Boma.

 

According to the eye witnesses, the driver of the truck registration number ADC 6597 failed to negotiate the corner due to over-speeding.

 

A ZANIS crew which rushed to the scene 15 minutes after the accident found the driver and his two passengers  being rushed to Mungwi Baptist Clinic for treatment.

 

The truck belongs to Bellview Tools Limited of Kitwe and was transporting quarry dust from Kasama to Mungwi when the accident occurred.

 

Meanwhile, the two loaders who were on truck have vanished while being transported to the hospital.

 

The driver of the truck, Aaron Siame 49, confirmed from his hospital bed that he was with two loaders when he left Luombe quarry in Kasama but could not state their whereabouts.

 

Road Traffic Accidents have in the recent past rocked Mungwi district and over 5 deaths have so far been recorded along Mungwi/Chitila road.

 

This has raised concern among the residents who have since appealed to authorities to consider putting –up speed humps along the Walinkonde curve which has become the blood spot.
