4 people die in accident

FOUR people have died on the spot while four others sustained serious injuries after a truck they were travelling on overturned on Kaputa-Nsumbu road.
Luapula Province commissioner of police Malcolm Mulenga said in an interview yesterday that the accident happened on Friday around 11:40 hours about 10kms from Kaputa.
“Four people died on the spot due to the impact and four others were seriously injured,” he said.
He said the truck driver, Kaoma Kalwa, of Lupili village in Nsama district, allegedly ran away after the accident.
“The driver of the truck bolted just after the accident and he is currently on the run,” Mr Mulenga said.
He said the accident happened after Mr Kalwa allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to over-speeding and it overturned.
He named those that died as Benson Kaulu, 33, Evaristo Chishimba, 45, Jackson Mushingwe, 42,  and Charles Musonda , 43, all of Lambwe Chomba village in Chienge district.
Those injured are Kafwimbi Kaunda, 42, Loveness Kombe , 35, Chishimba Chitambala,  36,  and Joyce Kalumba , 31, all of Lambwe Chomba in Chienge .
They are admitted in Kaputa District Hospital.
He said the truck was extensively damaged.
And Muchinga divisional criminal investigations officer Peter Kabengele said a seven-year-old girl of Lukombozi township in Chama has allegedly been defiled by a 12-year-old boy.
Mr Kabengele said the incident happened last Monday around 15:30 hours at Chama Primary School where the two juveniles attend school.
“The incident happened after the two had finished attending lessons. The matter is still under investigations and no arrest has been made yet,” he said.
