Gwembe, July 16, ZANIS ——Gwembe District Council Chairman, Cosmas Sing’andu has warned all Ward Councilors in the district to desist from staying away from developmental projects that are being implemented in their respective wards.
Mr Sing’andu who is UPND Councillor sounded the warning during the fourth ordinary council meeting held at Munyumbwe council chambers last Friday.
In his remarks to the ordinary council meeting whose majority councillors are UPND, Mr Sing’andu said his office is aware of councillors in the district who are in the habit of staying away from supervising both government as well as private sector initiated projects.
Mr Sing’andu said he will no longer tolerated councillors that are isolating themselves from what they are mandated to do in their respective wards.
"I warn you to be present whenever projects are implemented in your wards. That is why you are called councillors, to represent government whether you are in opposition or not", he stressed.
He urged them to solve problems as they arise in their wards.
"We do not want to be receiving complaints from the community when we have government representatives in each ward," he said.
