David Beckham is already wanted back in the game.

The city of Miami is looking to get its hands on the newly retired superstar to help bring a Major League Soccer franchise back to town.

“We’re ready and we’re excited about the possibility of having top-flight professional soccer back in Miami,” Mayor Carlos Gimenez said. “With people from all over the world living in our community, this is an ideal market for MLS and David Beckham is the right person to make it happen.”

The Miami Fusion closed up shop in 2001 after only three years, leaving four professional sports teams based in the city.

In Miami today, Beckham toured two possible homes for an MLS team, Sun Life Stadium, where the Miami Dolphins play, and Florida International University Stadium, which, Garcia said is “made for soccer.”

After announcing his retirement from pro soccer after 20 storied, studly years, Beckham never ruled out returning to the sport in a front-office capacity. And, coincidentally, the 38-year-old athlete and underwear model is made for being the face of just about anything.
