——The Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) has welcomed the appointment of Robert Sichinga as Minister of Agriculture and Livestock.
ZNFU president, Jarvis Zimba said Mr Sichinga has come at a critical time when the agricultural sector is facing numerous challenges that need serious attention.
Mr Zimba said his union and the entire farming community in Zambia has high expectations that Mr Sichinga will address problems facing the famers such as the handling and management of the Farm Input Support Programme (FISP) among others.
He further implored Mr Sichinga to take practical steps ahead of this year’s crop marketing Season by working out modalities that will ensure that farmers are quickly paid by the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).
Yesterday, President Michael Sata swapped Agriculture and Livestock Minister Emmanuel Chenda with Commerce and Trade Minister, Robert Sichinga.
