An 18-year-old woman in Chadiza District yesterday gave birth to a baby girl that has its internal parts and organs wedged outside her belly.
The incident has shocked the residents of Chadiza especially that the liver, the kidney and the intestines are all outside the baby’s belly.

The child’s great-grandfather, Katapila Zulu, told ZANIS in an interview that he had never seen or heard of such a thing in his life time.
Mr Zulu said the baby, who was born after a caesarean operation on June 18th afternoon, was looking strong and crying normally and was sucking from its mother at intervals although the intestines were outside the body as opposed to the normal human set up.
The baby’s mother, Gladys Sakala from Chikoma village of chief Pembamoyo’s area in Vubwi district, has asked people to put her in prayers as currently the situation was purely in the hands of the Lord, especially that this was her first pregnancy.
And Katapila Zulu said Gladys was impregnated by his grandchild Chisomo Zulu of Robbie Village of Chief Zingalume in Chadiza District but that things were normalized and that they should get married after a cow was paid as dowry.
When asked for a comment, District Community Medical Officer, Godfrey Lingenda, said he could not comment as he was out in Lusaka, but he referred all comments on the matter to Swali Fundafunda who was the Doctor in station.
However, Dr Fundafunda declined to comment on the matter, adding that he was not allowed to issue press statements.
