The opposition UPND says government should apologise to miners who are losing jobs as a result of operational challenges in the mining sector.

UPND Chairman for Rural Reconstruction and Development Moono Mapani says the PF government should be embarrassed that they have failed to come up with favorable policies to mitigate the challenges mining companies are facing in their operations.
Mr. Mapani says President Lungu’s five-day working visit to the mining province was in vain as no tangible solutions have come out.
He says it is therefore imperative that the government apologises to miners who have lost jobs and those whose jobs are on the line due to operational challenges.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mapani has called on President Lungu to create an enabling environment for political parties to operate freely in the country.
He says the route taken by the government to allegedly suppress opponents using the Police amounts to violation of human rights.
Mr. Mapani has since called on the Human Rights Commission to condemn what is happening in the political arena.
