POLICE in Nyimba have arrested a teacher for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old child contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Assistant Police public relations officer Godfrey Chilabi yesterday stated that Milambo Mweenda Mpanga, 30, a teacher at Nyimba Boarding School, allegedly defiled the girl.

“The incident happened yesterday, 1st June 2018 around 10:00 hours at the suspect’s house at Nyimba Boarding School teachers’ compound,” Chilabi stted.

“Brief facts of the matter are that a woman aged 46 of Nyimba Boarding School teachers’ compound reported to the police after noticing that her granddaughter looked physically weak and emotionally disturbed. It was at this point that the child was interviewed and later disclosed the ordeal.”

He stated that the minor was taken to Nyimba District Hospital for medical examinations and treatment.

Chilabi stated that a docket of the case had been opened, the suspect arrested and detained in police custody and that he will appear in court soon.
