Water levels at Lake Kariba have continued receding with a drop from 480.49 meters to 480.47 as of last week.

According to the Zambezi Water Authority the current level is 18 centimetres higher than what was recorded last year on the same date.

However, the current level is within the designed operational threshold of 475.5 metres and 488.5 metres.

Zambia experienced severe power load shedding between 2015 and 2016 which government attributed to low water levels at Lake Kariba.
