Bowman Lusambo and four others accused of assaulting former MMD national secretary Major Richard Kachingwe several times have been acquitted on all charges.

Lusambo and four others were found not guilty today (Wednesday) on charges of assault by the Lusaka Magistrates Court.

The charges stemmed from an incident on December 1, 2012, in which four MMD cadres were being accused of assaulting Major Kachingwe, Mr Gregory Chifire and Mr Patrick Kamfumukache. Particulars of the offence are that Lusambo, 35, of house no. 8240 Chamba Valley, Chiwele Maimisa, 44, of house no. 10 Chilenje South, Kadobi, 44, of house no. 89 Lusaka West and Watson Mtonga of Mtendere township jointly and while acting together with other persons unknown, assaulted Major Kachingwe ,Mr Chifire and Mr Kamfumukache.

They however, pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and told the court that the allegations levelled against them were false.
