POLICE in Kitwe have arrested two men for allegedly robbing a taxi driver of a vehicle he was driving using a taser gun.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said in an interview that the incident happened on Sunday around 21:00 hours in Kitwe.
Ms Kasosa identified the two suspects as Collins Bwalya, 20, and Dennis Mwaba, 24, both of no fixed address.
Bwalya and Mwaba are alleged to have robbed Benson Simwanda, 25, of a Toyota Corolla registration number ADD 7061 after they had hired him to take them to Garnerton Township.
Ms Kasosa said the vehicle was later recovered at Don Chile nightclub in Chililabombwe around 23:00 hours where the two were apprehended.
“I can confirm that a taxi driver was attacked by four men who booked him on the pretext that they were going to Garneton but later robbed him of his vehicle using a taser gun,” she said.
Ms Kasosa said police are also hunting for the other two suspects who are on the run.
