Lightning kills footballers

 

Lightning has struck two football players to death in Mufumbwe district of North Western Province.

Mufumbwe District Football Association chairperson Boaz Katolika confirmed the incidence to ZNBC Sports correspondence Kakumbi Muyambango in the district.

Katolika identified the deceased as Modakai Mulaisho of Agro Celtic and Aldas Mutukwa of Zesco United of Mufumbwe .

He said Mutukwa was a pupil at Mufumbwe Secondary School while Mulaisho was just a football player.

Katolika said the incidence happened on Wednesday at the pitch when they were playing football during Kyakilika tournament.

He further said the district has so far recorded at least four similar incidences this year.

Katolika has urged sports lovers and players not to lose interest in sport activities despite the tragic loss of the two footballers.
