A GRADE ten pupil has been sentenced to five years imprisonment with hard labour for manslaughter.
Kabwe High judge Elita Mwikisa slapped the sentence on Mubanga Mwansa, 20, who was facing one count of manslaughter.
Mubanga was found guilty of causing the death of Gilbert Kabuswe on May 23, this year.
The two fought during a drinking outing.

In the ensuing brawl, the deceased hit Mubanga with a bottle leading him to retaliate with fists until Mr Kabuswe fainted.
He later died at the hospital where he was seeking treatment while Mubanga was apprehended and charged with murder but was later reduced to manslaughter.
In his mitigation Mwansa through his lawyer Mwangala Mwala of Kabesha and Company, pleaded with the court to be lenient with him as he was only 20 years old and still in school.
Ms Mwala said Mwansa admitted to the charge without wasting the court’s time and was remorseful for his actions.
Ms Justice Mwikisa in passing judgement said it was unfortunate that Mwansa who was a Grade 10 pupil had decided to engage in excessive beer drinking that led to a loss of life instead of studying.
She said beer drinking was not rewarding and proceeded to slap the five-year jail term on him.
