RETIRED Zambia Air Force (ZAF) senior officer Paul Pandala Banda, who allegedly shot dead his wife Vivian recently and was later battered by his relatives, is responding well to treatment.

Colonel Banda is currently admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) after being severely beaten by his son and the deceased’s relatives immediately after they discovered that he had shot his wife in the bedroom after a marital dispute.
UTH public relations manager Mwenya Mulenga confirmed the development in an interview yesterday, saying his discharge would depend on other tests that were currently being conducted on him.
“I can confirm that he is still with us and his condition is stable. I must say he is responding well to treatment. The hospital will only be able to discharge him once satisfied with the latest outcome of tests,” Mr Mulenga said.
Lusaka Province Commissioner of Police Charity Katanga said in an interview that police were monitoring Col Banda’s recovery process and would effect an arrest once he was discharged.
Col Banda, who is also a lawyer, was recently alleged to have shot his wife during her birthday in their bedroom, an incident which has left many people and relatives shocked.
