A combined team of officers from Police, Zambia Development Agency -ZDA, Ministry of Agriculture and Zambia Bureau of Standards have conducted an on the spot inspections in various stores in Lusaka to check on illegally imported products such as packed oil.

Mr Aubrey Chibumba a Member of Edible oil Sub sector committee says it is sad that the Zambian market is still flooded with imported packed oil despite his committee not issuing permits for edible oils since March this year.

Dr. Chibumba says the oil sub-sector committee has decided to confiscate all edible oils that do not have import permits on the market.

He said this will enable the oil local manufacturers to grow their business. Dr. Chibumba was speaking shortly after his team raided the ware house which was storing some edible oils.

He noted that once the market has limited edible oils it will allow the oil sector in the country to grow while increasing employment opportunities, and revenue collection.

He disclosed that there are 10 types of oils on the market that have no import permit from March.
