OVER 32 members of the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) and MMD in Shibuyunji district have defected to the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).
Shibuyunji PF district chairperson Joseph Kasonde received the new members at a meeting held in Makombwe ward in Mwembeshi constituency yesterday.
And speaking at the same function, PF Makombwe ward chairperson Cloud Njaluka said the 32 members of UPND and MMD defected to the PF after being convinced that the PF is a political party which is committed to improving the lives of people in Shibuyunji district.
“President Edgar Lungu is a leader who cares for the people and here in Makombwe, roads, schools and health centres have been constructed and farmers have been receiving fertiliser on time. We are mobilising the people and come 2016, the President is going to be voted back into office,” Mr Njaluka said.
One of the defectors was former MMD Makombwe constituency chairperson Webster Shamushika.
