There was a near punch up at parliament building today between Kasama Central Member of Parliament (MP) Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as (GBM) and his PF Mfuwe counterpart Mwimba Malama.

The two parliamentarians allegedly issued un-palatable language at each other and nearly exchanged blows.

The fracas occurred at break time when the House broke for tea at 10.45 hours. The break takes 15-minutes.

And as the House resumed sitting after 11-00 hours, UPND Mazabuka Central MP Garry Nkombo rose a point of order disturbing MMD Ikelengí MP Elijah Muchima who was on the floor.

“Mr. Speaker, during break time, there was a bad incident outside the House. Is it in order for Hon. Malama to issue insults against GBM because we could have witnessed a serious fight.

I need your ruling, Sir? Mr. Nkombo asked.

But Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini reserved ruling on the point of order raised by Mr. Nkombo saying he was not there and needed to get more information and study it.

“I reserve the ruling surrounding your point of order. I wasn’t there for me to comment and l need to get information and study it,” Dr. Matibini said.

A few days ago, Mr. Mwamba was appointed opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Vice President in charge of administration.
