The Police Public Complaints Authority says it is still recording numerous complaints from the public concerning police brutality.

The authority says complaints of police failure to act, wrongful detention, corruption and unprofessional conduct are also on the rise.

Police Public Complaints Authority Secretary Girland Safwila however says the authority is doing its best to ensure that disciplinary action is taken on police officers that are found wanting.

Mr. Safwila says steps are taken to erring officers not to punish them but to make police officers perform their duties in a profession manner and promote cooperation between them and the communities where they are serving.

He has also advised members of the public not to have personal hatred against police officers and drag them to the authority on petty issues.

Mr. Safwila was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News at the Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola .
