Two more bodies retrieved from Luapula boat accident

Two more bodies of the ten people that died on the Luapula River in Nchelenge have been retrieved and buried.

 

This brings the total number of bodies retrieved and buried so far to four as the search for the remaining bodies intensifies.

 

In a brief to ZANIS in Nchelenge today, Luapula Province Commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila said two bodies of a man and a woman were recovered yesterday and buried.

 

Commissioner Namachila said the Zambian marine units have since intensified the search in an effort to retrieve the remaining six bodies of the victims.

 

Ten people, including four Zambians, died on the Luapula River at Kasase area when an overloaded boat carrying 14 passengers and bags of cassava capsized on Monday.
All the victims are residents of Nkole Island in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
