THE ENTIRE MMD LEADERSHIP IN MUNGWI DISTRICT HAS RESIGNED TO JOIN THE OPPOSITION FORUM FOR DEMOCRACY AND DEVELOPMENT-FDD.
MMD Mungwi District Chairperson Wilbroad Lesa led the defectors who included his vice, Mary Mulenga, District Secretary, Bernard Mumbi, Constituency Information and Publicity Secretary Willie Sichilima and district chair Lady Annie Mukuka.
Others are district women secretary Benedict Chileshe and her secretary Winfridah Chileshe and Youth Secretary Numba Chanda
And speaking on behalf of the defectors in Mungwi yesterday, Mr Lesa said his executive committee has cited among other reasons for their defection poor leadership being exhibited by MMD President Nevers Mumba.

And in welcoming the defectors, FDD Northern Province chairperson john kansema urged fdd members in the province not to feel jealousy of the new members but to embrace and work with them.
Mr Kansema said the people that have defected from the MMD to his party did so with full conviction from their hearts adding that there is no buying of members in the FDD as is the case with other political parties where people are bought in order for them to switch camps.
He told the defectors that they joined the FDD because they believe in its future and not because of goodies that the party has to offer.
Mr Kansema added that the FDD in the province is not interested in any political squabbles but want peace to reign for the goodness of the region.
