Sandra Almeida’s trainer, Kenneth O’conno has said Esther Phiri was not as strong they thought.
This came after the fight between Esther Phiri and Sandra Almeida was yesterday announced a technical draw only after three rounds.
” Judging from the three rounds, Esther was not as strong as I thought she would be. I didn’t see anything that surprised me here. My fighter was calm and had Esther sized up,” Kenneth O’conno said.
” A draw is like kissing your sister, we didn’t come all this way expecting a draw. Its never pleasant. We came here to stop Esther but unfortunately we didn’t do the job because of the accident,” he added.
Sandra sustained a cut on the right eye which made it impossible for the match to continue.
” Esther always does those head butts. It’s something that we saw in her videos but we definitely want a rematch,”
” I thought the doctor was a little bit too cautious. I feel we could have continued with the match as blood was running on the side of Sandra’s eye not right into the eye,” O’conno said.
Sandra’s trainer also said he did not respect Esther following her remarks after the match.
Phiri declared herself champion saying she had won all the three rounds.
” I don’t respect what Esther had to say at the end of the fight. I thought Esther was more humble than that. Sometimes people get very emotional at the end of the fight and say things they don’t mean,” he added.
