State House police officers engaged in a near punch-up with PF cadres at the airport when they went to see off President Lungu, who was in Livingstone for the AU Committee of 10 Summit, which ended on Saturday.

This was after the cadres alleged that the officers were unfairly selecting those to be at the airport apron.

An unidentified cadre bragged that he could not be pushed around by a police officer who has no rank.

“These constables think that they can be above us. We are in government and we need respect. Boma ni boma,” said the cadre.

SOUTHERN Province minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu says the government has sourced a US$5 million loan from a local bank to complete stalled works at the Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport. Mubukwanu, who could not disclose the local bank, said the airport will be completed in three months’ time.

He said President Edgar Lungu would commission the new airport terminal, whose construction works started in 2011.

“This is one of the projects that has stalled for a long time and we have sourced US$5 million from a local bank to see the completion of all outstanding works,” said Mubukwanu in an interview,  adding that the commissioning of the airport, which is in operation, will be done together with the US$19 million radar system. – See more at: http://postzambia.com/news.php?id=8009#sthash.TWWnsaGV.dpuf
