FORMER Zambia soccer team striker, Dudley Fichite yesterday appeared in the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded not guilty to sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl.
Fichite, 36, who until last season was an assistant coach at Division One South side Riflemen, is alleged to have defiled the girl in December last year in Kamwala South.
Facts are that the girl went for a holiday at his residence and while there, on a date unknown, Fichite got drunk and defiled her at night but the girl never reviewed to the aunty, Mrs Fichite.
But Fichite, a Staff Sergeant, told magistrate Betty Malipenga after the offence was read out to him that he knew nothing about the charge. Ms Malipenga adjourned the case to May 6, 2015 for commencement of trial.
Fichite unrepresented, who has been in police custody since his arrest, later applied for bail pending trial arguing that the charge is bailable.
Ms Malipenga granted Fichite a K10,000 bail but in his own recognisance and further ordered him to present to the court two sureties working in the Government.
