A 75-YEAR-OLD woman of Kitwe has narrated before the Kitwe Magistrates Court how a 25-year-old man allegedly attempted to rape her at her farm.
This is a case in which Eddie Kayombo of House Number 253, Kawama township in Kitwe, is facing one count of attempted rape.

When the matter came up for trial on Monday, the woman told the court that around 18:00 hours on the material day, she was at her farm, where she lives alone.
The court heard that after working at her farm, she got her clothes and started washing them, when the accussed grabbed her..

“He undressed himself and pushed me to the ground and he tried to undress me but I managed to escape,” she narrated.
Earlier, Kayombo went into the complainant’s house at midnight and wanted to have sex with her but he could not succeed.
During cross-examination, the victim said there was no way he could bear false witness against Kayombo, whom she had known for the past four years as he is like her own grandchild.
Magistrate Ikechuku Iduma adjourned the matter to April 1 this year for continued trial.
