Zambia to host coaching conference

Lusaka, March 10,2015,ZANIS–Zambia will this year host a two days Coaching Conference in October at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) to enhance the quality of coaching and sport in the region.

The Confederation of Southern African National Olympic Committee (COSANOC) in conjunction with African Union Sports Council Region 5 are working at having about 120 coaches who will be trained with the aim of developing both high performance and grass root coaches.

African Union Sports Council Region 5 general manager for Zambia Stanley Mutoya confirmed the development to ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today.

Mutoya said, the conference which will be hosted for the first time in Africa will also support the development of already running programmes in the region such as youth games.

He added that the union is looking forward to hosting the conference at OYDC as it will spur and support the development of structures for coaches.

Motoya noted that it was an honor for Zambia to be the first country to host the conference and will work hard to ensure that the event is a success.
