PF celebrates Masebo expulsion

Patriotic Front (PF) members in Chongwe have commended President Edgar Lungu for expelling area member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo from the ruling party.
The party members converged on Lusaka’s East Park Mall where they sang songs of solidarity in support of the President’s decision.
PF Chongwe constituency chairperson Oliver Kachepa who spoke on behalf of others said Ms Masebo’s expulsion has been long overdue.
“We are very happy with what the president has done because it has been long overdue,” Mr Kachepa said.
He accused Ms Masebo of causing confusion in the party.

Mr Kachepa said the party is ready for a by-election and campaigns have already started at the grass roots to ensure that the party retains the seat.
He also accused Chongwe and Rufunsa district commissioners Kebby Kashinamilunda and Paul Kasongo, respectively of working with Ms Masebo and that the PF wants them out of their offices.
“How can civil servants be partisan, they are supposed to support the government of the day,” Mr Kachepa said.
He alleged the district commissioners were also working with some senior civil servants and the PF have the list which will be presented to the party secretary general Davis Chama.

And Chongwe district PF chairperson Jones Luputa said all PF members who were supporting Ms Masebo will be dealt with accordingly.
Ms Masebo campaigned for the United Party for National Development (UPND) in the January 20 presidential election.
Efforts to get a comment from Ms Masebo proved futile as her phone went unanswered.
But Chongwe DC Kebby Kashinamilunda has denied the allegations and challenged Mr Kachepa to prove his accusations.
Mr Kashinamilunda said people who are accusing him of having worked with Masebo in campaigning against the ruling party are only after his position.
“Only a fool would bite the finger that feeds him. I am a civil servant, so why would I decampaign the ruling party.  Those who are accusing me are only after my position, “he said.
Rufunsa DC Paul Kasongo said his record is straight because he was campaigning for President Lungu.
“The people who are accusing me of decampaigning President Lungu are only desperate for employment. I have always supported the PF and I am happy that Masebo has been expelled because she deserved it,” Mr Kasongo said.
