————— A cross section of Luangwa
residents have commended Luangwa District Council for procuring a
grader using the Constituency Development Funds (CDF).

Residents in the district have noted with gladness that the grader
will be used to supplement government’s efforts through the Rural
Roads Unit (RRU) to improve feeder roads in the area.

Headman Chiendiendi, Geoffrey Kalonga and Chairperson of the Churches
Association, Reverend Davis Mavunga said the procurement of the grader
by the Luangwa District Council has come at a right time when most of
the feeder roads were in a deplorable condition.

Rev. Mavunga said the grader will supplement and compliment Government
efforts through the Rural Roads Unit (RRU) to improve feeder roads
most of which have become impassable.

Meanwhile Luangwa District Commissioner, Eunie Mumba added that grader
will open up the District for development.

Mr. Mumba said the district will no longer just depend on the Rural
Roads Unit to work on feeder and township roads.

The Luangwa District Commissioner implored the Council to fully
utilize the grader open up the district for development saying the
Patriotic Front administration was in a hurry to fulfil its campaign
promises of taking development to the people.

The grader which is a three in one machine was bought at a cost of
K756, 000 from the Constituency Development Funds.
