Dangerous criminal escapes from custody in Mafinga

–A dangerous criminal facing a series of criminal charges  in Mafinga  circuit court has  escaped from lawful custody from the local police station.

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner, Auxensio Daka confirmed the escape of the notorious armed robber.

Mr Daka h identified the escapee as Dickson Singogo of  Mafinga district who  escaped from the police cells in the early hours of Wednesday.

The police chief explained that Singogo was facing one count of aggravated robbery and was taken to Mafinga where the circuit court was sitting and was expected to appear before Magistrate John Phiri.

Mr Daka said the criminal is a very dangerous one as he was also involved in three fire arms theft from neighbouring Malawi.

He said the police in Muchinga and Eastern provinces have since launched  a man hunt.

Meanwhile, the police commissioner has appealed to the community not to harbour the man if seen in their area but report him to the nearest police station.

Mr Daka said the criminal is dangerous and people should be on the lookout for any suspicious strange looking man.

The escapee was arrested two weeks ago in Mafinga district after allegedly staging a robbery while armed with a gun.
