—–The Bemba Traditional Council has pledged to work closely with the government to foster development in Northern Province.

Spokesperson for the Bashilubemba, Sub-Chief Chimba, made the pledge during a live programme on Radio Mano Community Station in Kasama today.

Sub-Chief Chimba revealed that the recognition of Henry Kanyanta Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu by the government is a welcome development.

He expressed confidence that President Edgar Lungu will continue to facilitate development in the province.

The traditional leader said Paramount Chief Chitimukulu was looking forward to the completion of the construction of a secondary school and tarring of Nseluka – Kayambi Road among other projects in his area.

And Sub-Chief Chimba accused former Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister, Nkandu Luo, of contributing to the recent standoff between government and the Bashilubemba.

He, however, said the Bashilubemba are ready to forgive Prof Luo for as long as she apologies for her actions.

Meanwhile, the Bemba Traditional Council has expressed optimism that the Ukusefya Pang’wena Traditional Ceremony for the Bemba speaking people will finally be held this year.

The ceremony has not been held for some time now because of differences that ensued between government and the Bashilubemba over the appointment of the new Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.

However, Republican President, Edgar Lungu, has recognised Henry Kanyanta Sosala as Chitimukulu, thereby restoring cordial relations between government and the Bemba Traditional Council.
