PF in Mpongwe strong despite defections – Mulenga

Mpongwe, Jan 29/15 ZANIS——-The Patriotic Front (PF) in Mpongwe district says it will not be moved by the defection of some of its former party members to the opposition Rainbow Party.
PF District Secretary, Joseph Mulenga, says the party remains intact as all its former party officials were a source of confusion and belonged to what he termed as the “cartel”.

In an interview with ZANIS, Mr Mulenga said Roderick Chitalu, Kapesa Masase and Charles Mubanga, who recently defected to the opposition Rainbow Party, were all suspended officials and are not a factor in its operations.

“They were on suspension because they brought confusion to our party. These are the people who were being used by Wynter Kabimba to destabilise our party,” he said.

He added that the ruling party is stable and performing extremely well contrary to claims that it is marred by confusion.

And when reached for a comment, former PF Constituency Chairperson, Roderick Chitalu, accused the ruling party of creating a hostile environment for experienced politicians who are now seeking refuge in the Rainbow Party.

Mr Chitalu, who is now Rainbow Party District Chairperson, said he is confident that the party will be steered to greater heights under the leadership of Wynter Kabimba.

He added that the opposition party, however, faces the challenge of mobilising for the 2016 general elections.
