Zambia goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene is very disappointed with Chipolopolo’s early exit from the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

Zambia played out to a scoreless draw against Cape Verde in their final Group B match on Monday night in Ebebiyin to exit the tournament bottom of the table with two points from three games.

It is the second successive time that Zambia has made a preliminary stage exit after failing to defend their title at the 2013 Africa Cup in South Africa where they were eliminated with three draws.

Mweene also admitted that Zambia’s mix of experienced and newcomers was still a work in progress.

Zambia coach Honour Janza took eight veterans from the 2012 Africa Cup winning team and named ten debutants in the 23-member team.

“I think as a player I am very disappointed by not going through to the quarterfinals,” Mweene said.

“But at the same time we have to look at it from a positive perspective because when you look at our team they are eight experienced players while it was their first time for some at the tournament.”
