Mansa women elated with Wina’s appointment

—–Women in Mansa District of Luapula Province are happy with the appointment of Inonge Wina as first female Vice President of Zambia by President Edgar Lungu.


Mansa District Women Development Association (DWA) Chairperson, Rhoyda Kapansa, says as a member of the Non-Governmental Coordinating Committee, the association is happy with the gesture shown by President Lungu to appoint a woman as republican Vice President.


ZANIS reports that the Mansa District Women Association chairperson said Ms Wina is a good and hardworking woman who is truthful in what she does and deserves the position.


Mrs Kapansa said as a former NGOCC chairperson and former Minister of Gender, Ms Wina understands better the needs of women in the country.


She described Ms Wina as a person who has always stood for what she believed in and never looked back.


And Mansa District Women Association Coordinator, Elizabeth Mushili, said the women’s movement in the district, is elated with the appointment as President Lungu has fulfilled the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development of August 2008.


Ms Mushili said the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development is aimed at promoting women’s representation and participation in all political and decision making positions in all SADC member countries.


She has assured Ms Wina of unconditional support from the women in the disitrict.
