HH takes Itezhi-Tezhi constituency

 

Itezhi-Tezhi, January 22, ZANIS—The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema has scoped Itezhi Tezhi constituency in Central Province after polling 8,521 votes.

 

This result is from all the polling stations in all the 13 wards of Itezhi Tezhi constituency.

 

Returning officer Gaphine Walubita declared Mr.  Hakainde Hichilema and UPND as the winner around 10:00 hours.

 

The UPND candidate was closely followed by the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Edgar Lungu, who polled a total of 821 votes.

 

Edith Nawakwi of the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) polled 67 votes and Erick Chanda of the fourth Revolution Party (4R) got 49 votes followed by Kaunda Tilyenji of UNIP who polled a total of 48 votes.

 

Heritage Party(HP)  Presidential candidate Godfrey Miyanda polled 31 votes while Chipimo Elias of National Restoration Party (NAREP) and Nevers Mumba of the Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) polled 21 votes each.

 

Dan Pule of Christian Democratic Party(CDP) polled 7 votes and was followed closely by Forum of Democratic Alternatives(FDA) Ludwig Sondashi who polled 4 votes while Peter Sinkamba of the Green Party polled a total of 2 votes.

 

There were 61 ballot papers which were rejected.

 

The election in Itezhi Tezhi was incidence free.
