Mwense District Electoral Officer George Musumali has appealed
to political parties in the area to educate their cadres not to involve themselves into conflicts.

ZANIS reports that speaking during a District Conflict Committee meeting held in the council secretary’s office ahead of tomorrow’s presidential by-election, Mr Musumali said violence should be avoided if the country was to
remain peaceful.

He said political party cadres should work together despite their
different affiliations as they still belonged to one country.

And reacting to a report by United Party for National Development
(UPND) that the Patriotic Front was defacing and covering their
posters on top of UPND’s, the DEO said the tendency should stop.

He since advised the two political parties involved to sit down and
resolve the conflict amicably and continue campaigning in a conducive
atmosphere.

And speaking during the same meeting, Mwense police officer in charge
commended the political parties in the area for conducting their
campaigns peacefully.

Mr. Nkata said there has been no serious report of violence in the
area since the campaigns started and has advised the
parties to continue conducting themselves well.

Meanwhile, the District Electoral Officer also disclosed that ballot papers for the January
20, 2015 election have been dispatched to various polling stations in
the district in readiness for tomorrow’s poll.

Zambia goes to the polls tomorrow on January 20 to elect the country’s Sixth President following the death of President Michael Sata in October last year.
