Former programme manager for Families are Nations Emmanuel Chungu says dip tanks are important facilities in the fight against livestock diseases in the country.
Mr. Chungu pointed out that the construction of dip tanks by government through the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock was a welcome move.
He noted that this was important especially this time around when government was restocking animals across the country to benefit the poor population.
He said this will reduce animal deceases which have been killing animals in many parts of the country.
Mr. Chungu has since urged government to inculcate a sense of responsibility to people who will benefit from animals being given to co-operate societies in Zambia.
He said some animals were given to some beneficiaries who do not even have knowledge on domestic animals were reared.
He said people should learn animal husbandry skills before getting animals in order for them to have a knowhow on livestock farming.
Mr. Chungu said once this is done, it will be easy for the initiate to materialise into a tangible objective that would benefit intended communities.
