Lungu says he is not at war with Scott

Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu says he is not at war with acting Republican President Guy Scott.

Mr. Lungu said this to journalists this afternoon after he held a private meeting with US Ambassador to Zambia Eric Schultz.

Mr. Lungu says Dr. Scott is his superior and that there is no need for reconciliation because   they are working closely.

He says he believes that Dr. Scott has stayed away from the campaigns because he is busy with state matters and will join the campaign team anytime.

And when asked what he discussed with the US Ambassador, Mr. Lungu said the discussion centered on how he will govern the country in the event the PF won the presidential election.

And US Ambassador to Zambia Eric Schultz has described the meeting with Mr Lungu as a success.

He says the United States is keen to see a transparent election process.

Mr. Schultz says there is need for all leading presidential candidates to think about how they will lift the majority of the Zambian people out of poverty.
