NIPA student arrested for cocaine trafficking

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Lusaka has arrested a female student from the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) and two members of the same family for trafficking in cocaine.

Judy Lungu, 24 a student at NIPA, has been arrested and jointly charged with Ruth Ng’ambi, 23 and her brother William Musenge Ng’ambi, 25, for trafficking in cocaine weighing 65 grammes.

DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo said the three suspects were apprehended from their residence in Makeni.

Meanwhile, the Commission has arrested six people for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis in North-Western Province.

Those arrested include Davy Lombwe 22, a bricklayer of Mushitala area in Solwezi for trafficking in 9.8 kg of cannabis, Inshiwa Daimon 72, of Lwakela area in Ikelenge district for trafficking in 5.8 kg of cannabis and Steven Chizhingu, 29, of Mwinilunga for trafficking in 4.2 kg of cannabis.

Others arrested are Chrispin Mukanzo 35, a businessman of Lwakela area in Ikelenge district for trafficking in 2.3 kg of cannabis and Isaac Samuwika 27, a vendor of Nyachawa area in Kabompo district for trafficking in 1.5 kg of cannabis.

Ms. Katongo said in a statement to ZANIS that all suspects will appear in court soon.
