Civil servants urged to remain non-partisan

Chibombo, November 24, 2014, ZANIS – Chibombo District Commissioner Felix Mang’wato has cautioned civil servants in the area against involving themselves in partisan politics during the campaigns for the January Presidential by-election.

Speaking during the District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) Meeting held in the council chamber, Mr Mang’wato said partisan politics must be left to politicians.

Mr Mang’wato said civil servants are expected to be non – partisan and to support the government of the day so that service is delivered to the people without any discrimination.

He particularly urged officers charged with the responsibility to distribute government resources such as farm inputs to carry out the exercise in line with the guidelines and in a non-partisan manner.

Mr Mang’wato warned that he would not hesitate to mete out disciplinary actions on any officer who would be found wanting.

Meanwhile, Mr Mang’wato has urged heads of government departments in the district to take DDCC sub committee meetings seriously.

He said he had received reports that some heads of government departments have a tendency to shun DDCC sub committee meetings.

Mr Mang’wato said the DDCC sub committee meetings were important because it was through such gatherings that reports from various departments are collected and compiled.

And Mr Mang’wato commended heads of government departments for the timely submission of their monthly reports to his office.

He said this was making it easier for his office to compile the district report sent to  Cabinet office.
