FAZ Communications Manager, Nkweto Tembwe says Zambia qualified to the African Cup of Nations in accordance with Confederation of African Football -CAF- regulations.

Tembwe says that CAF Regulation number 14 point 1, state that if two teams have the same number of points, what is considered is the greater number of goals in the matches between them, and Zambia goes through because of superior goal difference to Mozambique.

And government has congratulated the Zambia national football team for qualifying to the 2015 Equatorial Guinea Africa Cup of Nations.

Chief Government Spokesperson Joseph Katema, who is also Information and Broadcasting Minister, says the Chipolopolo’s qualification has put a smile on the face of Zambians who have been grieving the loss of late President Michael Sata.

Mr. Katema says the victory over Mozambique at their home ground is testimony of the team’s patriotism, discipline and determination to bring glory to the country.

He says Government and the people of Zambia are confident that the team has what it takes to replicate the 2012 performance in which Zambia emerged Champions of Africa.

Mr. Katema says Government is committed to working with all stakeholders in ensuring that the team prepares adequately for the Afcon finals in Equatorial Guinea
