The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has pledged to engage in peaceful campaigns ahead of the presidential by-election.

UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema says the Zambian people should instead be worried with the PF cadres who he says are known for violence.

Mr. Hichilema says his party has always been a peaceful party.

He has instead accused the ruling Patriotic Front of being agents of violence since they assumed office in 2011.

He says it is written on the walls that the PF is a violent party, pointing out that even during the mourning period they disturbed the peace of the nation when Acting Republican President Guy Scott fired Edgar Lungu as Secretary General.
